Certainly explains a lot! I need to go and see that cat. I once went very much out of my way in Australia to see a big papier mache lobster on the roadside than Bill Bryson had written about, so it's definitely a thing I would do.
I love these, especially the Yule Cat. Have you ever heard of the Nisse? I was an exchange to to Copenhagen, Denmark when I was in high school, and the Nisse were a big thing people wanted to tell me about Danish Christmas culture. I was often told that they are "like Santa's elves" but "more like pixies," and that it was traditional to leave the porridge instead of leaving out cookies for Santa. I just did a quick wikipedia search and it seems to line up with a lot of what's on there - except I was also told that the punishment for not leaving porridge out for the Nisse was that they would get made at you and burn your house down.
Haha, burning a house down is some next level festive action. 🔥 🎄I had not heard about that. Love all these weird myths. I've just put a note up about a new book I've just spotted that looks great, you might like it too. One for the xmas list!
Absolutely bonkers. Iceland though. Kind of makes Björk look relatively well adjusted doesn’t it.

I would leave many hearts if I could! LOVE the stories and commentary!!
Ahh thank you! So glad you enjoyed it ☺️

“I mean we all know cats can be arseholes but this is truly next level.” 🤣 Gotta love Iceland! 🐾
This was such a fun and festive treat. Calling the Christmas elf 'a little bastard' had me in stitches!
Haha, thanks for reading! 🎄☺️
